BEFORE YOU CALCULATE
The purpose of AMT Travel Health
AMT Travel Health helps you understand the health, safety and practical risks of a journey, relate those risks to your own health and preparation, and identify actions to complete before departure and return. It brings destination intelligence, prevention planning, healthcare access and medevac information into one structured journey.
What travel health means
Travel health is the preparation needed to reduce illness, injury and disruption before, during and after a journey. It includes destination disease risks, routine and travel vaccinations, malaria prevention, medicines, existing health conditions, insurance, access to care, security, transport, climate and plans for an emergency.
AMT supports informed preparation; it does not replace personalised advice from a qualified clinician, official entry rules, emergency services or current government travel advice.
How the AMT ratings work
Destination Risk summarises verified health, safety, healthcare, climate/environment and transport conditions for the selected place and travel dates. Personal Risk considers how your health, age, itinerary, exposure, preparation and access to care may change the consequences for you.
Risk scores: below 40 Low; 40–70 Moderate; above 70 High. For Travel Functionality, a higher score means travel is functioning more normally: above 65 Good; 40–65 Moderate; below 40 Poor.
Healthcare access and medevac
Access to care considers whether suitable emergency assessment, diagnostics, medicines, specialist treatment and evacuation can realistically be reached. A facility being listed does not guarantee current capability, capacity or acceptance.
Medevac means medically supported transfer to a suitable facility, within the country or internationally when necessary. AMT can show named facilities, emergency contacts and potential providers where verified, but an actual transfer still requires clinical assessment, receiving-facility acceptance, operational availability and insurer or payment authorisation.

- AMT Intelligence
- AMT’s structured travel-health decision support. It combines the saved destination, dates and itinerary with current destination evidence and the traveller’s Personal Risk and prevention review. It is a current risk assessment, not a diagnosis, guarantee or prediction.
- How AMT Intelligence is derived
- AMT evaluates health and active outbreaks, safety and security, healthcare capability, climate and environment, transport and day-to-day functionality using available authoritative evidence. It then combines these destination domains with age, health stability, activities and exposure, vaccinations and prophylaxis, medicines, insurance and access to care. Verified conflict, outbreaks or major disruption can apply documented minimum score bands. The Full Report shows supporting sources, review dates, confidence and score explanations; missing evidence must not be treated as Low risk.
- AMT Wallet Card
- A concise, portable summary generated only after Destination Risk, Personal Risk and the country-specific vaccination, malaria and PrEP/PEP review are complete. It shows the destination and date, destination and personal scores and bands, the principal high-risk reason when relevant, a short recommendation and immunisations still needed. It does not replace the Full Report or clinical advice.
- Full Report
- The detailed record behind the Wallet Card. It explains the overall and domain scores, comparative ratings, evidence and confidence, current outbreak, security and transport findings, country-specific vaccinations, malaria prophylaxis, PrEP/PEP guidance, prevention actions, recommendations, official sources and review dates. It is a time-specific assessment and official advice should be checked again before travel.
